Working Groups
Advocacy
Letting government leaders know that immigration justice is a priority for their constituents is vital. You do not need to know policy specifics to advocate. Our federal legislators need to be urged to do everything in their power to create pathways to citizenship for all 11 million people living and working here without legal status. The president and homeland security secretary need to hear that we want less resources in detention and home monitoring and more resources in humanitarian services for immigrants. Please visit mvicdayton.org/advocate for more specific and updated advocacies. To learn more about the working group, contact Lynn Buffington by clicking the button below.
Sanctuary & Asylum
Our Sanctuary and Asylum group focuses on hosting and supporting asylum-seekers who come to the Miami Valley. We work with host families and churches, including Lower Miami Church of the Brethren, a sanctuary congregation that offers hospitality to migrants in need. We hope to find other individuals, groups, and congregations who may be willing to accompany migrants through sponsorship programs and circles of solidarity. If you can help with contributions of time, money, or supplies, or if you want to know more about how you can help our new neighbors, contact Jan Futrell by clicking the button below.
